Hello Ivan,
to set the file attributes to "read only" is no work-around in any case.

Hi All,
Anybody care to comment on the following proposal...
Item: Addition of menu/mouse button behaviour to Layer tabs on PCB module

Yes, but Mark was looking for previously selected items to become
unselected, and vice versa. That is different from selecting everything, or
de-selecting everthing.

Try Edit Select All. Selects the whole board. Then Edit De-Select All. This
is from the menu.

This isn't one of the times where Protel has an undocumented parameter.

Mark,
I just copied all the files 'training.*' to my P99
system directory. Then installed the server with
the big arrow menu. Once it was installed the
training menu under help was also installed.
Didn't take long once I found the which files it used.

You had it half right, add the parameter, "scope = all" to a button or menu
item with the process "PCB:ToggleSelection" and it should work.

Hello, all:
I hope Protel fixes this in future releases.
I hate it when I open up a DDB file just to look at something, and it
changes the file date. IT SHOULD NOT DO THAT!
I use file dates to know when I last worked with that project, and this
SCREWS UP that knowledge.
Best regards,

Mark,
Sorry I should have checked it first.

It was part of the training Seminar Examples. I have it
installed in my P98 install, but not in P99SE. I am not
sure if you can install it in 99 but if you have it you
could try.

Somewhat related to this, is the issue of portability (both import and export)
to other CAD systems and tools. The programmers probably emulated some of the
capabilities of the language they were using to write the code.
I would think the best option here would be some user checkboxes to allow

Hi All,
I was wondering if there was a way to toggle the selection state of all
objects at once, in the PCB editor. I want *everything* selected to become
de-selected, and *everything* de-selected to become selected.
I thought I used this once before, but I can't remember if it was a standard

Kiernan,
another bug in Protel Gerber generation that you will likely run
into soon according to what you have just stated, involves Octagon pads. I
do not know the details as I never use them myself but reportedly Protel
does not generate the correct rotation of octagonal pads in Gerber.
Hey Ian,
I tossed it on my notebook and tried it in each direction. It still does it!

Your rotated rectangle is no problem to match up within the gerber to make a
fine drawn pad using 0.01mm traces for cross hatch. Your octagon only comes
out as an oblique line so I don't know what can be done about that.
The only thing that you may be able to do within protel is deselec
So far I have only seen this when I have selected and moved a bunch of
parts,
if I then double-click the part the coordinates are all of a sudden out to 6
places.
I am woring im metric but also use basic increments like 0.1mm for all
grids.
I pretty much do not change between units display.

It is a matter of minutes to make your own sch-symbols and
another few minutes for a new footprint.
I want them my way anyway.

If you are in SCH and set two location markers, jumping between them works
ok BUT try using the PAGEUP/PAGEDOWN keys after that without a slight wiggle
of the mouse. The zoom in function doesn't center properly as it does
normally around the current cursor position.
