I went yesterday, and I must say it's as great (and welcome)of a change as it was from version 2.8 to 98. There are TONS of cool features. I only had 45 minutes to stay so I didn't get into the meat of VHDL or the router, but I'm going to pony up the money for this one. Some of you are going to

Kevin, export or convert your database information into a DBIII or DBIV database and save this file for Protel linking issues. I would believe you could do this much easier and faster then writing proprietary scripts to do the same function. We basically do the same thing between o

Kevin, I had Ian Wilson write a server that links all the fields except the read only fields from an excel file. It works similarly to the linking function inside Protel only this one works in under 8 hours. actually in seconds. It will even fill the footprint field for you. Ask him for it, it sho

Tony, Have they fixed the zomming so that is like the rest of the world out there or is it still "anti-intuitive" (i.e.: place the cursor in the left side of the screen and zoom out so that you can then place the cursor in the right side of the screen and zoom in to the right). JaMi Smith

Fading toolbars sounds nice, altho' I usually leave them in the lower-left corner where they aren't in my way very often. I have a toolbar button to toggle the "Design Manager" pane off & on -- I think that's standard, but maybe I added it a long time ago. Does DXP allow some sort of "auto-hide"

I think their zooming works fine. I usually have my hand on the PageUp/PageDown keys for that, but now they have the Shift_Scroll wheel working!! (or was that Ctrl-Scroll??) It's really fast to zoom around now. Tony > -Original Message- > From: JaMi Smith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] >

Yes, from what I can remember they've incorporated several ways to hide menus. If you bump the cursor against the side where the window pane is located, it unrolls from the side. (This is user configurable of course, as is everything else it seems) The object selection has gotten more sophisticat

I can tell, and I've been there too (being a Protel customer since 1988) I think it was a solid demo because I had them jumping all over the place and trying this and that. It wasn't like they were doing things in a specific order where they could control what was exercised and what wasn't. Tony

Tony, that is good alright but sometimes I think that their demo databases have been so tested during development that they have just taken out any of the offending issues if they couldn't fix them quickly. I have always found that the only way to test a CAD system is at least 4 - 5 design
