Dear Sir,
Specify the location on your fabrication drawing and the PC board shop will
tape off the unwanted area. Mind you its less expensive just to finish the
whole board with the immersion gold.

I have seen the disjointed line problem on every single installation of
Protel99SE I've come across (about a dozen or so) and refuse to believe that
it is hardware related - how could so many different systems all have the
same hardware problem? - unless Protel wrote the code for one specific

Yes I've noticed that the [ALT] + [numeric keypad] does not generate

Note however that this does work in all the text edit boxes in schematic and

Good day all!
I am trying to import an Orcad Layout file (.max) version 9.2.3 into my Protel 99SE
and it crashes soon after starting every time on 2 different machines. I get a partial
import but it seems to fail at the same point every time. I have a very hot project

Could this be because you were editing the pad location instead of the
component location?
I have a couple of single (through hole) pad test point parts with which
that I have noticed this - double clicking the pad brings up the pad
location properties box not the component location properties box
Can any one address autoplace settings and/or required rules for a successful
autoplacement of a dense population of components on a small footprint. I am having
issues with components stacking on each other and/or placing outside boundaries. Any
help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Protel 99se can do this.
Go to Tools/Annotate and then click on the Advanced Options tab.
In this tab you can define a suffix for all sheet parts (i.e. a suffix of 10
applied to the components from 0 to 23 would give part numbers 1000 to 1023)

they are drawn on the project sheet.
To move them use the "send item to back/front(of)" command on the sheet

You do realise that you can copy/paste directly from schematic to word,
don't you? There is even an option in Preferences to include the template.
Select all items on the schematic, then edit/copy, left click a reference

The best way I can see around that problem would be to add the ddb file and

This will probably only work if both the files are on a local drive.

The deal is that companies will charge what the market can afford.
If different regions have different economies then regional pricing is
usually applied.
BTW, it's still too expensive for us, I've been told that we are not going

I have a copy of our company logo in the C:\Program Files\Design Explorer 99
SE\System\Buttons directory on all PC's with Protel installed, cludgy but it
works, if all Templates have C:\Program Files\Design Explorer 99
SE\System\Buttons as the location of the bmp file.

Also, UltraCLC.exe (freeware):

before shutting down Protel.

the stripe.

It's been a while since I've installed Protel, but from memory: Schematic
editor Preferences/Graphical Editing/Convert Special Strings is not checked
by default. So you will see things like '.DATE'instaed of the current date.

Aah ha! That fixed it. Sort of.
I've only just worked out how to maximise programs across two monitors (as
well as enabling "Maximise across both desktops" I also have to hold down
CNTRL whilst maximising a window. I used to "restore" a program window and
stretch it to fill both monitors.

Yes this sounds like the problem I have with the autopan setting when using
the "Adaptive" mode. Fiddling with the speed setting did not help.
That's why I now use re-centre.

Any object (Pad, via track etc...) added to this layer will appear on all
*signal* layers.
The help file actually has some useful info on this (for a change).
