I'm not in front of a system right now but there always used to be a check box
in the Preferences to set whether sends should default to infinite resistance
or to nominal level.

To get to where the send Volume is located quickly I Hit "Vo Shift
end" and then vo left about 2 times and bang.
to set it to 0 just hit " VO space Bar on it and it will be set to 0.

Slau is correct. There is a volume fader in the Send window. I'm not sure if in
ProTools 9 it still defaults to neg. infinity, but it is there.

Yes, sends appear when you're in the Pan//send window. When you assign a send,
that window automatically opens. I think there's a volume fader there. Also, I
