I am really having trouble figuring out what I am doing wrong here. I'm
trying to adjust the tempo of my session, and it's like voiceover is not
putting me in the text field to type in my new tempo. When I try to
backspace over the tempo, voiceover says nothing. I have also tried

when you click on the value, by default, the numbers after the decimal are
highlighted. So, after clicking, press Shift-Tab and type the value you want as
your tempo. If a decimal value is required, press the decimal key and continue
typing.

Do you have automation turned on for the track with the plugin
inserted on it? Is the plugin an audio effect or a soft synth? If it is a
synth, there may be a midi program change on the track that is resetting
it.
