Some folks choose not to do the subscription model and it's separate from the copy protection which is the iLok part of the equation. In other words, the two are separate things. You need the iLok no matter what. The subscription model gets you tech support, any upgrades and a discounted price

Hello, yes, my MacBook Pro only has two USB ports, that is what makes the additional two USB ports only Apple keyboard a blessing. I keep my iLock plugged into the keyboard. As for the subscription, I had good luck purchasing through Sweetwater. The iLock is included in the subscription
