Step record is when you enter MIDI notes one at a time using the num pad rather
than playing a keyboard.

Just wanted to let you know, I did get protools working on Mohave, but
the first few times I started it, it just hung there and I had to
force quit the thing. After that it wanted to ask permission about
using the Microphone and Keyboard Maestro had to ask if it could
control events, but otherwise

definitely need to go through all of the necessary tweaks.
I don't use Step Record but it is doable in Pro Tools. I'm sure there's
probably a chapter on it in the Reference Guide.

One more thing that just occurred to me: if you're simply upgrading and not
nuking and paving, probably most of the settings from the previous installation
will remain the same but it's always a good idea to review settings when doing
something major like an OS upgrade.
