Very odd. i set all these preferences in protools using the nuts and bolts
section of the mat and rob tutorial. But i think i hit a wrong key stroke on
the mumeric keypad and changed something in there today. so you saved me heaps

Hi Steve: I had the same problem, and this worked for me … go to Preferences,
and select the Mixing tab (Command + 4). Move to the Automation group and
interact with it. find the Checkbox that says Plugin Controls Default to Auto
Enabled, and uncheck it.
