There are a ton of plug-ins out there that are mostly accessible. that said, 
Avid's stock plug-ins are quite good. There are tons of people who use nothing 
other than the stock plug-ins in their dAWs. Most plug-in developers offer 
trial versions or trial licenses. You can certainly try out some plug-ins and 
decide for yourself. The premium plug-ins that Avid offers are great. The stuff 
from Plug-in Alliance and Sound Toys are fantastic as well. Give it a try.

The avid plug ins are actually pretty igh quality. dont  discount them
just because they came with your DAW. Plenty of pros still use the
stock avad plug ins.
