Hmmmm... seems like something in this Autoconf check I've written is
horribly disliked by your HPUX box. As a work-around you can configure with:

$ echo "ac_cv_check_mcsc=no" >config.cache
$ ./configure --cache-file=./config.cache

This should make sure that this particular Autoconf test is not run at all.
