The configuration mechanism is extremely flexible. You can build GUI's
in many ways. I suggest you look over the simple ones in the
ptolemy/configs directory. For example, runConfiguration.xml offers
no user interface: it just runs a model. runPanelConfiguration.xml
offers a run control panel

We are actually working on a possible integration of Ptolemy II(consider
Vergil here) in our own GUI. Our major problem is the multiple views
system. We would prefer a "windows explorer" like system (navigation
through Tree on the left - view on the right). We are quite not far from

I successfully installed ptolemy classic on Linux RedHat 6.2, 7.1, 7.3
(had some problems on 7.2)
