Scott Marshall\n\n* Second part of presentation Amrapali Zaveri on the ReDD-Observatory projec t\n* AOB\n\nAmrapali Zaveri Abstract below:\n\nAbstract:\n In the first par t\, the conversion of World Health Organizations' Global Health Observatory (GHO) dataset from spreadsheets to RDF will be explained. GHO comprises mo re than 50 different datasets\, it covers all 198 WHO member countries and is updated as more recent or revised data becomes available or when there a re changes to the methodology being used. However\, this data is only acces sible via complex spreadsheets and\, therefore\, queries over the 50 differ ent datasets as well as combinations with other datasets are very tedious a nd require a significant amount of manual work. By making the data availabl e as RDF\, we lower the barrier for data re-use and integration. Thus\, the details of the conversion and publication process of the GHO data will be described in detail.\n\nIn the second part of the presentation\, the applic ation of the GHO dataset in evaluating the disparity between the availabili ty of treatment options and the global burden of disease will be described\ , that is\, the ReDD-Observatory project. The disparity is partially caused by the limited access to information that would allow health care and rese arch policy makers make more informed decisions regarding health care servi ces. The hindrance lies in reliably obtaining and integrating data regardin g the disease burden and the respective research investments. Therefore\, a s the Linked Data paradigm provides a simple mechanism for publishing and i nterlinking structured information on the Web\, an opportunity is created t o reduce this information gap that would allow for better policies in respo nse to these disparities. The details of the process involved in evaluating the disparity will thus be discussed in detail.\n\nHere are the links to t he presentations: GHO: http://goo.gl/UUlJc and ReDD Observatory: http://goo .gl/prSs9.
