*FlyWeb: A Data Web between Repositories and other Data Sources, linking
Drosophila Research Image Data with Publications*
Dear Colleague,
I am seeking a skilled computing officer to be Project Manager and to
take the lead in developing software for the JISC-funded FlyWeb Project,
to build a demonstrator web data integration service to enable search
interoperability between heterogeneous web sources, specifically images
and data concerning gene expression in the fruit fly Drosophila
melanogaster. The person appointed will join a small active research
group applying lightweight Semantic Web technologies to assist in the
management of biological research data. The full text of the
advertisement and further particulars are given at
http://www.zoo.ox.ac.uk/Current_Vacancies/.
Applicants should have a good degree, probably in a mathematical or
science discipline, extensive experience of software development,
preferably for web applications, and project management experience.
Additional experience of agile software development techniques, semantic
web technologies, knowledge representation techniques, database schema
alignment, Linux system administration, and/or user interface design
would be highly desirable.
I would be most grateful if you would bring this opportunity to any
suitable candidates. Informal enquiries should be addressed to me. The
closing date for receipt of applications is Thursday 29th November 2007.
With best wishes,
David
