All - on March 30 I attended the BONDI Steering Group's f2f meeting in Cambridge, MA US.

In the interest of aligning our Widgets specs with BONDI, I said the following regarding my expectations for Widgets spec publication for the next three months. I made it clear that I spoke solely as a Chair of WebApp (and did not speak on behalf of my employer nor on behalf of WebApps WG):

[[
a) My expectation is the WebApps WG will publish "Last Call Working Drafts" of the three core Widgets specs (Packaging and Configuration, Digital Signatures and APIs and Events) by the end of April. The publication of a LCWD is a signal the WG has satisfied all of the related requirements, the spec is feature-complete and ready for a thorough review.

b) The month of May will be used for the mandatory review period required for all Last Call Working Drafts

c) My expectation is we will publish Candidate Recommendations of these three specs in June. The Candidate, in W3C parlance, is also know as the "Call for Implementations". This is a signal the spec is stable enough to implement. During this Candidate phase the WG will be required to create a thorough test suite. I expect the "Exit Criteria" for these Candidate specs to include at least two implementations that pass all of the tests.

d) When the Widgets group has its June 9-11 f2f meeting, the group will focus on completing the Candidate specs and/or work on the required test cases.
]]

Because this meeting was confidential to BONDI members, it is my understanding I am precluded from providing any comments or minutes from the related discussion. However, surely one of WebApps' OMTP members that attended this meeting will provide at least a summary.

Comments on the points above are welcome. I have already received some feedback from the Widget spec Editors and will capture some of the comments as new Actions or Issues.

-Regards, Art Barstow
