I would be up for working on this as well. I had some ideas for using type and
providers to implement that I haven’t been able to get to yet.

I hit this same error yesterday and started a discussion with the devs on
freenode. My understanding of the issue is that EPEL and Fedora errata have an
empty Updated date/time field. In poking around, I think there’s a work around;
but, the devs haven’t had a chance to look at it... It was late
I cancel the tasks as well... except it seems more common for me so I have a
cron job running a script every 30 minutes to check for pending sync jobs and
resubmit the sync job for the repo.
