I have started to see something happening quite reproducibly (as in near 100%) for some strange reason. Nothing here has changed, but this has started happening. I have rhythmbox playing. I pause. I resume. I get all kinds of "crackling", then it starts playing, then pulseaudio quits. Just no

Hello. Just installed F11 and made a note about the sound. I hate to waste anybody's time with something obvious, but... Why does Pulseaudio (both in pavucontrol and in the new Sound Properties panel) not scale exactly with Alsamixer? For example, in PulseAudio's volume properties, levels 0-30%

Hmm. I assume that when you say that ALSA gives no reference point for 0dB on a card, this is because the cards themselves have no such reference point, correct? If every card had the same reference point, then ALSA could randomly choose one (standard, "max" amplification), and thus it would choo

Unlike most multimedia applications that have an internal volume meter, Rhythmbox actually communicates it's internal volume value to Pulseaudio, and Pulse in turn uses that as Rhythmbox's per-app volume. Problem: when Rhythmbox is the only app running, this means that any Main Volume adjustment
