Commentary

First off, apologies: I missed sending anything out last week. Andy's on
vacation, and I simply forgot. Mea culpa.

On the language "kerfuffle" that was mentioned a couple weeks ago around
resource expressions, the fabulous UX team at Puppet Labs has stepped up to
do a study, and we are currently evaluating the results. Look for a summary
write-up in the next week or so.

So: puppet 3.7 is coming! We're currently scheduled for this Wed (Aug 27th)
although Jira cautions that it'll be a day or two after, and it'll depend
on the language discussion above and the last few tickets in flight. Either
way: real soon now!

One change with this release: no RCs. (We found that we simply weren't
getting *that* much feedback in the RC cycles.) Instead we now have nightly
builds available. More details will be coming on the nightlies repo, but in
the meantime, if you were used to trying out RCs, please instead try the
latest build at:

http://nightlies.puppetlabs.com/puppet-latest/

Btw, no build lands there unless it's run the gauntlet of our CI at
https://jenkins.puppetlabs.com/, and if you want to roll back a few days or
weeks, older builds are there as well.

Next: facter 2.2 is coming too! We're currently targeting tomorrow, Mon Aug
25th. Lots of good stuff in this release for a variety of platforms. And a
shout out to Will Hopper, who's been adding structured versions of a bunch
of the built-in facts; that work is looking very nice!

And last, we now have nightlies for facter as well:
