I guess mcollective supports only linux and similar OS. It does not
have a package for Solaris or even a way to create a package from
standard tar file. Can someone suggest any other tool?

I am new to puppet. I have a requirement of having to install
different applications on different instances on the same machine. I
want to run it from puppet master instead of running puppet agent -t.
How can this be done?

I just did not read the error message properly. It is complaining
"Could not find class hosts"..
