Hey all,

I'm happy today to announce the first publicized and official release of
spyral, a game engine built on top of pygame. It can be found on github at
https://github.com/platipy/spyral and a lot more background and
documentation can be found at http://platipy.org

For a bit more background than you'll immediately find on Github, this
library and the documentation project came about as a result of building a
library on top of pygame for use in an undergraduate course, with the
primary goals being providing good performance with a simpler, more
pythonic API that provides higher-level primitives for building simple
games. It's been used successfully in the classroom for a few semesters
now, and we'd now like to release it to the public.

We're interested in hearing any and all thoughts and criticism, as well as
any ideas for more features or ways to improve the project in any way.

Thanks,
--
