You might take a look at the KeyBindings module
in the xpn_src dir of the Python/GTK based XPN
news client for a bit of inspir
t any other changes
Now I just have to try and remember what I was trying to do
before I managed to get myself into this mess

Apparently, this is not a new problem,
and seemingly not unique to my system

spent a couple of hours cleaning out hte Windows registry,
re-downloaded the installs, and tried to install again
without success
