There's some debate here where I work about moving forward with the PyKaraoke
project. At this time nothing has been decided or set in stone. We want to
open up communications to see if our goals fit the community. We are looking
for a karaoke player that we can use in a professional capacity. T
I have made the next release of Kap available, as well as updating the
site,
and adding an official mailing list. As a side note there are more features
to come for PyKaraoke. I'm in the process of working on them now.

Pretty much. With interface specifically tailored for running a show. You can
see the rough road map for Kap in the TODO file. I'll be uploading a tarball

Just wanted to announce the release of the DJ media player sister

is ready in an alpha state. You can find the code at: http://kap.nongnu.org .
Look forward to your comments and suggestions. It currently only supports the
use of MPlayer, but it will eventually support many m

You're right I should have been more specific. AGPL doesn't re

Just giving an update on the DJ player progress. It's moving along

Should have something to show in the next few days. Is this something that as
a community we would like to be a part of PyKaraoke, or would it be best to
spin it off as a separate project?

I've been getting a lot of feedback about wanting to have an integrated
search list for the ability to play music through PyKaraoke. With the ability
already present to call MPlayer, this should be an easy task. What does
everyone else think?

I noticed that there was not a channel for PyKaraoke on FreeNode. I've gone
ahead and created it. The channel name is pykaraoke.

There has been some discussion as to the way the menu is laid out in terms of
expected navigation. Currently the setting configuration is found
under "File" which is confusing to those I've spoken with. I propose we move
the configuration options into a Settings category.

One of the requested features I've heard was having a Play and a Stop button
for starting and playing a song when you're not automatically playing the
next song on the play-list. I believe this would be a very useful feature.
My thoughts on how to handle the behaviour is to have the start butto
After using the interface for a bit, it seems that the behaviour of having the
song played from the search list is unexpected. I'm thinking of adding an
option to change it so that double clicking will add the song to the
playlist and not directly play it.

PyKaraoke already supports zipped cdg and mp3's. If you are asking about
individually zipped files, I do not believe that current is offered. Though
