I was surprised, however, that no other poster has mentioned Dojo ( http://dojotoolkit.org/) so far as a Javascript library; of interest. One of the projects that I'm contributing to (Evergreen, at http://open-ils.org/) recently chose Dojo as their standard Javascript library for future development of Web-based UIs, and as we're trying out Pylons for a new component it would be nice to have some built-in integration with Dojo that we could take advantage of. Of course, if wishes were horses, we'd have a whole lot of pet food.
