Cheers! It turns out my email provider was silently ignoring all those
mails and just changing the address did the trick.

debug = false - basically nothing ever turns up.
In production.ini there are some lines like:
email_to = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
smtp_server = localhost
error_email_from = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I can manually set up smtplib and send
