4. Is HDF5 header/library version matching critical to use?

I believe I auto-accepted the hdf5 upgrades with a FC8 package update.
The software is raising error flags about a mismatch but reviewing
installed packages indicates both hdf5-1.6.7 and hdf5-devel-1.6.7 and
no 1.6.
