optimizations were fully backwards compatible and preserved all of
Python attribute lookup semantics. And they made some macrobenchmarks
up to 10% faster.

the real world can often be attributed to factors other than the raw
speed of the CPython interpreter. Yes, I'd love it if the interpreter
