It does. In my case I'm thinking of embedding pylint to check user
scripts which are written in python.

Why would it matter? PyLint is a tool you run *on* your source - you
don't distribute PyLint to your users.
And even if you did - your Python code doesn't link to PyLint, so
there's no need to GPL your code.
