I knew about the project perfs and after spending considerable time
studying Bob's reply decided to go that way. I have a little bare
bones project which loads and the shell is then indeed Python 2.4,
which accomplishes what I wanted for the moment.

Put Python 2.4 where it belongs, put Wing where it belongs (in
Applications). Make the adjustment in your project. In Project |
Properties, the item "Python Executable" can be set to Custom, and in

Thanks, that is an interesting article. I sent it along to a corporate
client I do occasional work for (paid for my G5 playground).
I'm apprehensive about Microsoft involvement though because they can
muddy up the waters badly with their excessive greed. Just like I'd be
