Anyone have an idea on this?

Alexsei and all,
Well, I screwed up and responded to Aleksei directly instead of to the
list. I really do appreciate his help; he's a lot more knowledgeable
than I am in this area. In an attempt to catch up on this, here's
what's happened.
I tried loading virtio_net module; it also loaded the v
Hi,
OK, I'm back on this now, and need to define a bridge for qemu.
Once again, this is Ubuntu running in VirtualBox under Windows. Ubuntu
is using NetworkManager, and I have defined the bridge there per
http://ask.xmodulo.com/configure-linux-bridge-network-manager-ubuntu.html.
This comes up as

Hi, all,
First of all, I will admit I'm a programmer, not a Linux administrator,
so the problem can be anywhere. But I strongly suspect it's in the way
I'm setting up QEMU.
Here's the setup. Main system is Window 7. Underneath that, I am
running Ubuntu 4.4.0.38 in VirtualBox. This is working

Hi, all,
First of all, I'll admit I'm not a Linux administrator - just a
developer. Right now I'm working on some Linux (Ubuntu) ARM-based code.
While I can compile it on the ARM processor, it's not always convenient
to drag around the extra hardware. So I decided I would build an ARM
emulator
Peter,
Sorry for the delay - I'm being pulled about 20 different ways, and this
one is lower on the totem pole :)
Move below:

Hi, all,
I'm having trouble trying to emulate an Olimex A10-OlinuXino-Lime
(https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/A10/A10-OLinuXino-LIME/open-source-hardware).
To do so, I downloaded the Ubuntu trusty image (also tried Debian
jessie with the same results), unzipped it and used 'dd' to copy to

I'm hoping someone can come up with another option. The performance is
ridiculous. I'm compiling a new Linux kernel. So far, it's been
running almost 20 hours. Sure, this is a laptop but it's still not THAT
slow, with virtually nothing else running on the system.

Hi, all,
I'm new to this list and hope someone can help me. Right now I have
qemu-system-arm emulating a Cortex-A9 with Debian Versatile Express.
This is running on Ubuntu quite well.
However, I need Windoze for some programs which aren't available on any
other OS. So Ubuntu is actually ru
