hi
all above i have succesfully compiled qgis1.6.0 in xp using msys,mingw
compiler , the error which i said about the plugininstaller is successfully
solved by adding the files of python to qgis release packager folder while
creating setup.exe

These changes seem to be fine, please commit them to trunk. 1.6 is already
branched off, so no problem there (current sources will be released as 1.7).

I cannot find an option to select more than one layer. In principle this
should be simple, using the same logic and interface of the identifiable
layers interface in Project Properties. Am I missing something, or this can
be added?

The waste of time occurs when you call the add layer methods (either vector
or raster) several times and the QGIS canvas is refreshed once by layer, so
you can see every layer refreshing the canvas unnecesarily. For me it's
