How about *adding* gitlab-ci, rather than *switching* ?
With PostGIS and GEOS we have both Travis adn Gitlab-CI
and Drone and Jenkins watching after the code...

I manually build the image and pushed it to the docker.
That should hopefully solve your issue while waiting for a better solution.
