There should not be a problem, now or in the past. As I mentioned before,
pyspatialite is in my Sqlite framework. Qspatialite works for me.

As I have done for previous releases, I have placed 1.7.2 on
http://qgis.gotslack.org for download.
However, I am unable to update http://download.qgis.org
myself, so would appreciate it if someone could make that change
