Nice! this will help a lot with actual 1.8 in production environnement here.
may I suggest a more explicit title for an eventual new version?
I would vote for adding that in core vector menu for 2.1..

That is always a pain since no tool exports csv in the same way when dealing

numerical / text types, decimal separators?

Thanks Vincent,
you are right. We already discussed that with Chris on the list. The problem
is that it is restricted to CSV again, and that it creates a separate
datasource. We could also think of extending VRT to all datatypes in OGR,
and have a GUI letting user to generate and load that VRT.
Hey Regis,
I think a Layer - Create Geometry Layer menu item would be a great idea
for non geometry layers.
Wouldn't be that hard to do I don't think.
Sqlite might be the best format as it's light and flexible. If you want
something dynamic i.e change the data, updates the points, then maybe
I don't think VRT would work because not all QGIS data sources are OGR
based so VRT wouldn't work in that case.
A special type of layer, e.g plugin, IMO would be best for this. Something
that just reads the feature from the underlying layer and adds the geometry
on the fly.

Hi all,
After some training courses here, a very common use case is not satisfied
easily:
The only entry to create geometry from text (XY or WKT) is the delimited
text plugin.
It appears that having a separate fonction create point like in Mapinfo or
Arcgis would be really handy, and could
Hi, what about NumericalVertexEdit plugin? If I understand correctly, it
do what you need.

The Quick WKT plugin does something very similar.
