Well, the problem is in access to an open file. While OGR can't
delete/move/rename columns, tablemanager modifies it on its own and there the
conflict occurs. It affects Win XP as well.
Unfortunately I can't see any simple solution with the present tablemanager,
so I've just disabled the Save

Yes, it has always been so under windows.

Sorry, I did not look at the version of the table manager - just as
noted in my first mail to the version of QGIS (OSGeo-Installer, QGIS 1.7
r15172). As the mentioned Win7-Box is at my workplace
