your layer is in UTM - the advanced tools will be greyed out until you
select the "Add Line Feature" tool to digitize a new line...see attached

asks for the source of the DEM on which to base the elevations. My problem
is my source for the elevation data is vector layer of contours imported
from a csv file. How do I create a DEM from this please?

La trovo fuorviante, anche se assolutamente corretta. Propongo di
sostituirla con:

Lo avevo segnalato, perché sono gli stessi DTM che uso da anni, e quando
ebbi problemi silimi, era sempre qualche bug, poi risolto.

the area you are allowed to use in a layout is quite often limited to
smaller extents with services such as GM.
Give it a try with a map/layout that covers a smaller (really smaller) area
to make sure it's not a technical or usage problem on your side.

come workaround il tuo consiglio è sicuramente valido ed applicandolo
funziona, riesco a tematizzare.
mi piaceva capire se si poteva fare qualcosa di più per definire in Qgis
questi campi "fantasma".

Ho avuto un problema simile, anche se non dovuto al passaggio su
SpatiaLite, ma leggendo un file csv. Ho risolto creando un nuovo campo e
trasferendoci i valori dell'attributo letti come "string", con la funzione
to_int dal menù conversioni del calcolatore di campi. Poi ho cancellato la
colonna

indirizzata in risposta ad un'altra e-mail del gruppo.
