thanks for the answers so far. Since it seems that it's not working it
definitely should be removed. But it would be great to have a helmert
transformation method even if it's not the most accurate method for scanned
plans.
I tried now polynomial 1 with success. So it was a wrong GCP...

Sorry Tim if I have high-jacked your thread :) Some of the comments
made caused me to experiment with GhostScript and I have just produced
a successful A0 plot of some orthophotos.

Not sure, as in gdal_rasterize there is no canvas. I think
that in gdal_rasterize the output raster must exist .

Correct:
Currently the gdal_rasterize utility cannot create a blank raster...
