Hi Markus In the newest svn trunk version, there is an svg fill renderer that scales an svg pattern to the resolution of the screen / composer. Like this, you could create a line texture as svg file, e.g. in inkscape (or ask on the list if someone already has a good one). Then, in the vector

Interesting that someone says contour plugin works via windows standalone as on my xp machine via windows standalone it won't work with this error: The process failed to start. Either the invoked program is missing, or you may have insufficient permissions to invoke the program. -Original

Thanks a lot you both. I had actually thought of using r.to.vect to get a point map with all the pixel centres, then v.to.db to get their coordinates etc., but the maps are too large and resolution too high. Obviously r.mapcalc was the solution I was looking for, I just regret not noticing it

I was playing around now quite some time with the svgfill feature. it's a great feature! Nevertheless I experience obstacles, making parts of the svg-grafic transparent. The only way I managed to come close to transparency is by drawing an object in inkscape and setting its filling to an
