I really don't know why this happens but fyi yesterday a installed
qgis/R/plugins on a brand new laptop of a friend (with win Seven 64bit)
and everything seems to work ok, included SDA4PP.

If you have GRASS you can use v.patch to append data to an existing layer.
The drawback is that you have to convert everything to Grass first, append 1 by
1, and then export it back out of grass.
If you are on linux there are commands you can use to batch append shapefiles...

Vectorization is present in both QGIS and GRASS.. depends what you are
more familiar with and what you like to use ..
Georectify is also possible in QGIS and GRASS personally I have used
only the QGIS plugin so far - but I'm quite sure that there is a
possibility to georectify images in
