Hello,
I downloaded a SRTM30 DEM tile from
http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM30/w100n40/ and I can not get it
to load in QGIS (v1.7.3, Win7 64-bit). QGIS keeps saying that it's an
unsupported raster data source.
I've searched for many different things online, and I can't find what the
You need to download and unzip this file:
w100n40.hdr.zip
in the same folder. And then try again.
Cheers

Thanks Saber. I can't believe I forgot the hdr file...it's been a long
time since I worked with DEM data.
It's loading fine now.

Dear Membres of QGis-user mailling list,
I have already imported this direct-mail list I mentioned to a
PostgreSql Data Base, but, I'd like to plot these addresses on a map (I
have the Shape Files) and therefore geocoding the entire direct-mail. How
can I do that in QGIS?
Thank you and
This may be a rather round-about way of doing it, but I am not familiar
with the various database functions available in QGIS. However, I tend to
upload large address lists to geocommons.com, perform my geocode operation
there, then import that file into QGIS accordingly.
My work associates have
Hi
sorry if this has been discussed before, but according to what I see
here [1] there was not an answer.
I need to open a NetCDF file with QGIS.
I am using QGIS 1.7.2, and GDAL 1.9.0.
I can successfully manage NetCDF files with GDAL:
$ gdalinfo --formats
Supported Formats:
...
netCDF (rw+):
It seems that QGis does not support GDAL raster subdatasets, I get
this with netcdf and hdf4 files.
Try this:
gdal_translate -of vrt NETCDF:Glb_20111001.nc:cf_DangerRisk danger_risk.vrt
qgis danger_risk.vrt
For more information on subdatasets see the GDAL netcdf driver page:
Another solution is to have only one variable per file, you can do
that with cdo easily.

Hello,
I successfully did it. But my email won't help you as I don't know why. I
guess my gdal binaries from my company has something specific.

QGis can open a netcdf file which has only 1 variable (along with
supporting lat/lon or X/Y dimension variables).
Perhaps that is what works for you?

Hello Jurgen and Giovanni,
Thanks for the input. I am leaning toward a bug or worm from a downloaded
file.
I'll try to locate and when found I'll alert the list.
Thanks again,

Etienne,
I don't think so as my netcdf have several subdataset. I have a windows pop up
which allow me to choose the subdataset.

I hope someone will take the time to help me understand the use of Google

I have been using Google Earth free version for some time. The images are
