I'd recommend using OpenLayers plugin instead of GoogleLayers because it
works better and has even more functionality.
Best wishes,

Hello,
I´m writing a plugin for simplifying a workflow. In the last Dialog I want to
implement a Button Close Qgis, but in the API docu I can´t find a an Object
with such an attribute to close the Qgis window. QgsApplication.exitQgis()
doesen´t work, has anyone an idea?
Thanks!

Hi Giovanni,
Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, installing qgis from that ppa is
resulting in the error that goes below. This is shown by a popup menu from
the software centre, not at the command line. As I understand it, the
package grass642 is failing to install; is there any work around?
And another thing, after adding the ppa to sources.list file I'm now getting
the error messages below when I run apt-get update. Any way to fix this too?
Thank you.

Thats way too slow. There must be something seriously wrong.
Are the same timings for the latest 1.8 nightly?
On my machine (Win7, SSD disk) the first (cold) start is 10 seconds. Few
plugins activated.

Hi,
Here are some more timings.
- Installed 1.8.0-20 with OSGeo4W installer.
- Deleted .qgis directory
- Started 1.8.0 once
- Power off - reboot
- Start QGis from a situation which I believe to be rather clean and no other
programs running.
This was a 2004 model PC with Windows XP, 1 X 3 GHz
We use QGIS 1.7.4 on Windows machines.

Just wanted to make the developers aware that when I use the Plug-In

always found hiding behind the main panel and the georeferencing panel
on the screen, so that in order to access the box, both panels need to

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to open .cse file in QGIS?
I probably need to convert them to another format, for example .flt. Any
ideas??
Best,

Hi all,
slow startup for me is under windows 2003 server and windows 1.7.4

still strange.. I'll do some bench tomorrow.
Ciao all

If you have the screen space, try resizing windows so the coordinate dialog is
always visible, even if it's just a part of the window. There's a better
explanation in the bug report.

Same issue under ubuntu 10:04 and 11:10, but in my case it seems a
problem of some or
several plugins as qgis --noplugins is much faster.
