It seems that python27 is installed in Windows in this manner.

Well, yes. But Qgis has its own Python. And you have to put your
packages there. Otherwise Qgis will not find it. Path is:
C:\Programs\Quantum GIS
indeed, I have learned this the hard way! It does seems that these modules
could be loaded when the Plugin is loaded but perhaps there is some reasonable,
technical reason why that is not done. Thanks -

The reason is that Qgis sets its own environment
Augustin: thank you for your advice, renaming all those files solved the
issue, now QGis can find the right libraries.
Etienne: I believe it should be me posing that question. These files are
market as installed on the 30th of November, which is the same date marked
on the QGis folder and files.
But if one loads XYtools and then has to go back to the OSGEO4 download process
again to get the missing modules then couldn't the OSGEO4 download process be
set up to download those modules in the first place? All I had to do was use
the advanced install and check two modules from a list that

Hi, I am new to the list.
I am trying to use the Point Sampling Tool plugin to extract some raster
values at specified sampling points.
I have installed the Point Sampling Tool plugin (0.3.3) on Q-gis 1.7.4
under Kubuntu
Hi,
I am having following problem:
When I attempt to load unprojected layer, QGis crashes (no error message).
Also, attempting to set CRS of a project (empty or with layers) or a layer,
causes the same crash.
This happens in version 1.7.4, 1.8.0, development version and in QGis
Browser.
I can load
Any suggestions?
can you share a sample of your problematic data?
cheers

Hi,
I try to import a shapefile (ESRI-Shape) I got from a french colleague. The
shape file comes with
a .proj file but this is ignored resp. not known by QGis during import.
Thus I extracted the
proj4 string in GRASS GIS which is:
+proj=lcc +lat_1=45.898919 +lat_2=47.696014 +lat_0=46.8
I work on Ubuntu (12.04) with QGIS 1.8.0 with GDAL 1.9.1.
I just tested here (I'm on ubuntu 12.04 too) and it works fine.
cheers

Thanks, but I suspect this may be problem caused by windows, not QGis.
Perhaps incorrect settings, but so far no luck finding it

I need to amend an existing shape file by making a line across an existing
polygon. The user manual has a 'capture line' button but I can't find it on

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

you cannot add lines into a polygon layer.
If you need to split a polygon look
Slightly off topic but how do graph databases such as Neo4j work with spatial
data and can you connect to this kind of database with qgis or is the structure
completely different or have I completely misunderstood things? As someone who

Thank you for your help. I found a solution in my case. I post it here, just
in case someone has the same problem.
It seems that Point Sampling Tool plugin crasses if it finds non-ascii
characters in the names of the shapefiles or in the shapefile field names. I
guess, it may also happen if it
