Does anyone have experience with LIDAR and qgis, what do I need to display
LIDAR information within qgis?
I mean other than the 2 terabyte hard drive to obtain the information?
Or does anyone know if I can get LIDAR for Maine (USA) on the internet?

I think you need to install libLAS-bin (http://www.liblas.org/) to save it
as Geotiff or asci (xyz) values. Then I don't think QGIS can disply it in
3D? You maybe can do it i GRASS and nviz, i think. The freeware Fugroview
are much quicker, I think. Fugroview works fine under wine.

The ultimate solution of course would be to integrate PostGIS in QGIS!
Paul seems to have got funded work on it [1].

Hi, I get an error when adding a jp2 raster to my project. I am running
QGIS 1.8 on windows 7 64 bit. I was able to add the same jp2's on 1.7.

Couple of questions that will allow people to answer better.
1. Which way did you install QGIS on windows?
(This is as important if not more so than what version of windows you're
running)
2. Is this a new install? If not, have you been successful opening jp2 before?

This is a new install of 1.8 using the windows installer. I have
reinstalled 1.7.4 and the jp2's work fine.
