Hello,
I have a polygon layer with several gaps between some features. I there a

Is not so simple to resolve this.
Firstly is necessary to understand what mean fix the gap
There is several solutions:
add several little polygons with all attributes set to NULL to fill the
gaps.
Or add little polygons with specific attributes for this gaps.
Otherwise move the vertex of
Dear all,
When adding a buffer to a centroid (VECTOR -- GEOPROCESSING TOOLS --
BUFFER(S)), the size of the buffer is circa 0.666 * smaller than I
expect. E.G. Buffersize input 100, results in a 66,67 m buffer.
I now must multiply the real buffersize by 1.65 to get the desired
result.

I was wondering if I could do the following within QGIS:
I want to update a column in my point layer with the attribute
information from a specific column in a polygon layer - so I have a
layer of postcodes and I want to give create a column, call it School
Catchment and I want to populate
First thing I would try would be doing a spatial join. A spatial Join
will take the attributes from the polygon layer and add them to your
point layer.
Vector Menu - Data Management Tools - Join Attributes by location. You
will get more than just the one column but the extra can be removed.
Hi
Thanks for answer, however I have discovered the Point sampling Tool
within QGIS that does exactly what I need it to do, It lets me pick
specific columns from multiple tables in one process!!! Perfect to
create a postcode to boundary lookup file.
Thanks again

I'm guessing here, but are you using on the fly projection? I'm not
entirely sure if the buffer works on the displayed projection or the
layer's projection, but I'm guessing that it's in the layer's.
All the best,

... or if, as it says on subject, this is a Spatial Query, you can try the
point sampling tool plugin to take the value that you want from polygons
that overlaps your points.
Good luck

Like Maurício said, the origin of the problem might come from the use of
different projections for layer and project.
The buffer tool will use the input layer's units (from the layer's
projection), and it will calculate it with precision. On the other hand,
the measure tools use the project's
Hi,

Hi
You can solve this sort of things automatically with grass tools via
Sextante. There is one tool (I cannot remember the name right now but will
check later) which let you choose a treshold in meters and automatically
merge the polygons.
Cheers
