Unfortunately this is not possible. I could use this as well, making it
possible to put two map-items on top of each other in a composer.
Currently, in the options dialog, the select color (yellow) has a
color-dialog containing the alpha channel. The background color has a
dialog
Have you tried to reproject again the data in the same CRS,
Raster-Projections-Warp or/and save as Geotif? (I don't understand are
you using Raster-Extraction-Clipper?)

I'm not sure, but don't you have to transform your shape to a raster constant
values before use it as a mask?

Hi all,
Thanks for the help, however I have discovered a most simple solution, I think
it may have been something to do with file permissions where I was saving the
output, I changed this and the problem went away.
