Dear QGIS Users,
Good Day!
I have a regularly spaced polygon layer for a country, and a point layer
with precipitation values. I want to assign the value of the precipitation
point layer to the nearest polygon grids.
Any advice will be very helpful.
Thanks,

After installation I could not run Qgis. A window says it could not locate
nircmd.exe file. Our folder in the program files does not have this file. We
tried blocking our antivirus program when installing but without any
results. Can

Yes nircmd is used to run QGIS without showing the command window that
setups up that paths.

Hi Lene,
This sounds like a bug; if you can confirm it on the 1.9.x branch (if
that's now what you're using now), you should report it here:

Hi,
The first sounds like a bug, I'd report it as such unless someone replies
to the contrary on here. Can't help on the second I'm afraid.

Hi,
If the toolbar is disappearing when it shouldn't be (what I read from your
message), that sounds like a bug. If you report all the
circumstances/details about it here -
http://hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/issues - along with screenshots,
that'll hopefully let someone replicate and fix it.
Hi,
Possibly this? http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8405 - it was fixed a few days
ago apparently so if it is still happening in a new build it sounds like a
different bug.
Also maybe - http://hub.qgis.org/issues/5546 - unfixed.

Bug reporting:
This is the ticket that was opened for it
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8447however I closed it because it's not
really a bug because you can't format
a string as a number.

Hi,
Are you using the standalone installer or the OSGeo4w Installer? If is the
second one, delete the folders related with qgis, sextante... and then try
again.
Good Luck,

We are struggling to work with co-ordinates in Quantum GIS.
How do we get the co-ordinates in a form that is acceptable to QGIS ?
Please send an example of a .csv file and inform us how to import/open it in

Hello,
Could you please give us a bit more information about what do you mean by
working with coordinates?
All information about how to work with projections in QGIS is in this
section of the user manual:
Hi
The nircmd.exe error is a known one, but it's not related directly with
QGIS but sometimes with malware, registry errors or corrupted files. I
would start trying to repair errors in registry using maybe CCleaner from
Piriform or some similar software (a Registry fixer). If that won't solve

Well, a more direct response:
1. If you have the CSV files make sure they are comma separated and in a
decimal degree format (not grades, minutes, seconds or words and letters
like grades or W, E, etc.), you'll need things like 1,90.3425,
