As a stop gap you could use the styling of your points.
So for dip you could have a marker symbol that is a horizontal line __ and a
second marker symbol that is a vertical line | to give a combined _|_ symbol.
(I can do you up a screen shot if you want)
Then you just need to rotate to fit. (an

I was wondering how do I cite the following links pertaining to QGIS in
Harvard referencing style (including in-text citation)? Is the second link
considered a web page or a document?

An e00 file is the old ArcINFO file exchange format - and for all the
times I used it I never did that for symbology. I tried to import the
e00 format but couldn't get it to work correctly - BUT - I do have some
arc products so I'll give it a short to see if I can import/export into

I have found a set of symbols and texture fill for Australia geological maps
at Geoscience Australia
(http://www.ga.gov.au/data-pubs/data-standards/standard-symbols). All the
files are *.e00 files and I was wondering how I get them into QGIS. I cant
seem to find an importer.

Hi Grant,
you can download a pretty good free svg dataset of geological textures (70),
geological symbols (70) and fossil symbols (30) here:
http://www.teuderun.de/freie-software/texturen-symbole/
It is a german source, but I guess geological symbols are global.

Hi,
QGIS does not yet have the concept of rasters classes linked with database file
like vector data is. Clark lab and Esri have this
concept. Clark lab had this implemented around 2000. The best
you can do is to select colors based on numerical categories and then save this
color ramp.
Hi Bart,
to let others participate at this discussion I'll publish your (direct) mail
and my answer here:
/Hi Ralf,
Thanks for your suggestion. I tried and it works. Do you know if there is
also the possibility to add other descriptor field using QGIS for creating a
kml?
Such as dimension of the
Hello all,
I have designed a number of colour schemes, mostly through GMT (CPT
format) and would like to know the best way of getting these colour
ramps into QGIS to be selectable from the drop down listing?
Are they stored in XML structure and if so where ?
Thanks
Lester

locations and Maxent output.
I have a fantastic dataset from Geoscience Australia (The National Dynamic Land
Cover Dataset).
It has categorised data in 34 classes I have opened the 'tif' file in Qgis and

I am seeking a set of geological symbols to annotate geological maps. I have
found some svg files from the USGS but there does not seem to be simple dip
and strike, or other basic geological mapping symbols. Can anyone point me
in the right direction here? I assume I am looking for svg files?
