It seems it is a problem only for ubuntu and 2.16 (which should be fixed in

with "webkit" in the name, but nothing has changed. I made comparision on my
second machine with Ubuntu 14.04 and there are the same libraries installed,
and HTML rendering works there fine. So maybe other library...

Thanks for the help. It seemed to work when I added the layer to the time
manager without any layer styling being done beforehand. Once the layer was
added to the time manager, I could do some layer styling and it would still
work.
