As for the QGIS project having a stable branch, I think it's treating the

I've been working on accessing protected layers in GeoServer via WFS from
QGIS. I ran into some problems, similar to those described by someone on
the mailing list a couple of years ago (except I'm using WFS rather than
WMS). I've found a workaround that is enough for my current needs.

When I started QGIS on my MacBook today after rebooting for the first time
in a long time, I found that there was no qgis menu bar. It's not at the
top of the screen like normal mac apps, it's not within the qgis window
itself, and there is no qgis app icon shown when I switch between apps
