Jonathan, this is an old, hard, fight...
I have been over this functionality many times in the past, and the first
difficulty seems to be just explaining the concept. To have a file that holds
both the reference to the datasource plus symbology and labeling settings. This
saves the user from ha
symbol and label it - much like the old label
type layers in MapServer.
Thanks,
Duarte

Is there any option to avoid duplication of labels when several polygons have

Hi there.
You can see the WMS link of a service when you click on it on the services page
(at the bottom you can see the links for rest, soap, and wms). I checked it
out, and it seems the wms url points to an internal, not public, machine...

They never failed me and the gui is quite uplifting. The new set may be
technically better but is not as friendly to users.
Please keep both.

GE does support image overlays. You can add a georreferenced image to Google
earth and then save it as kmz, but you have to georeference the image again in
ge. Or you can create a kml by hand, looking up the docs for kml.
Look here for instructions:

Gordon,
I've had success using OGR .vrt files in QGIS. Create a .vrt file that connects
to a single spatial table in your databases, and try to load it in QGIS. As
long as the .vrt file works in command-line OGR it should also work in QGIS...
