Hi All,
i had the same problem on osx.
using the last svn (version 1.1.0)
at the spalsh screen, under the step "restore plugins"
it freeze and open a window message
incompatybile library version module
it happens if i try to compile qgis from its old svn directory (1.0.0)
and done an "svn up
acr and proj4string are set!...
tring to add the layer pressing the apposite button, i have :

No valid projection. Unable to set map units.

is printed out beacouse i added "print layer" at the layer definition :

i'm doing something about gps signal acquisition,
i wrote a initial script
to produce a gml from the nmea
it read the serial port where is connected the gps-receiver and write
out to gml format
