Can anyone tell me how I would create a polygon type .shp layer/file
from a metes and bounds property legal description? I see special tools
for the ArcGis program. Is there anything in Qgis that will do the job?

Hello List,
I have a large, (4.GB), .sid file which I would like to edit somehow so
I can use several smaller sections of the file. I checked the user
guide but did not find anything? Is it possible?
I'm using Win 8 OS, and just recently Qgis 2.2
Thanks for reading my request and hope
List,
I simply want to indicate North on my map. It seems to me there
should be a plugin with some standard symbols that can be scaled to maps
in general? How are users handling this?

Hello List,
I'm using a lot of text annotation on my plant survey map. My problem
occurs when some kind of relocation function wants to optimize the text
box location. This happens when the map is placed in the print
composer. The pointer location remains in the same location but the

Hi List,
After completing a project with a LOT of annotated notes, (using Qgis
2.0.1, windows 8), I thought I could save as image. This function
does save all but the annotated notes. It appears that the notes are on
a separate file which does me no good at all. Is there a different file
learning curve.
So, do I have to rebuild the entire project in the composer, or is there
a way to make an import into a new composure as a single operation?
Still learning, Mike K

Hello All,
Can any one tell me if there might be a plugin that improves the text
annotation feature on the Qgis 2.0.1? I would like to rotate text to
other than horizontal, write text w/o a background fill, and I don't
always want the pointer from the framed box. It seems like a good
Hi List,
I'm having a problem with trying to get my id label to show on my Qgis
2.0 project when applied to a .shp Polygon layer. Works fine with a
line type .shp but no luck on the polygon type. I'm using the id
setting, and that attribute setting is an integer number. My other

Thanks James,
I got through the geo-referencing operation and it did generate a new
modified layer based on my .jpg. However the new layer is badly
distorted/stretched, (I used 4 coordinate Garmin GPS reference points),
and it is not in the right location. I can only find it by zooming to
